2. What services do you offer in Madison and Waunakee, WI?

We provide:

  • Lawn mowing and maintenance

  • Garden design and planting

  • Plant pruning and soil health management

  • Seasonal cleanups

  • Chemical-free weed maintenance

  • Landscape and hardscape design concepts

  • Community and accessibility-based lawn services

3. Do you offer landscape or hardscape design services?

Yes. We create landscape and hardscape design concepts tailored to your goals and property needs. These designs help you visualize what your outdoor space can become.

Please note: We provide design plans, but large-scale installation must be completed by a separate contractor.

5. Is there a fee for creating a landscape or garden design plan?

Yes. We charge a base design fee depending on the scope and complexity of the project.

If you hire us to implement services related to the design, the design fee is applied toward your service total. If not, the design fee is non-refundable.

6. What makes Stomata Lawn and Garden Care different from other lawn companies in Madison?

Stomata was founded by professionals with backgrounds in education, healthcare, social welfare, and the sciences. Our approach is research-informed and focused on long-term plant health — not just short-term appearance.

We emphasize soil integrity, proper mowing techniques, environmental responsibility, and structured communication. Our mission is to bring wellness through beauty by making healthy outdoor spaces an essential part of community life.

7. How do you ensure long-term lawn health?

We follow best practices such as:

  • Avoiding removal of excessive blade height

  • Alternating mowing patterns

  • Monitoring soil moisture before mowing

  • Supporting natural nutrient cycling through mulching

  • Offering chemical-free weed control

Healthy turf begins below the surface. Our methods protect root systems and soil structure.

8. Why do you charge more for overgrown lawns?

When grass grows significantly beyond maintenance height, restoring it safely requires additional time, fuel, and equipment strain.

From a turf science perspective, cutting too much at once can shock the grass and damage root systems. Overgrown lawns often require multiple passes to protect long-term lawn health.

Adjusted pricing reflects the additional labor and care required to return the lawn to a maintainable standard.

10. Do you provide chemical-free lawn and garden maintenance?

Yes. We offer manual and mechanical weed removal options for clients who prefer chemical-free lawn and garden care.

9. What happens if I participate in No-Mow May?

We respect environmentally conscious practices such as No-Mow May. However, once mowing resumes, taller grass may require additional time or staged cutting to restore safely.

In those cases, the first service may be billed at an adjusted rate. Regular pricing resumes once the lawn returns to a consistent schedule.

11. Do you serve both residential and commercial properties?

Yes. We serve residential homeowners, commercial properties, community organizations, and managed care partners throughout Madison and surrounding communities.

All commercial services are contracted.

12. Are you insured?

Yes. Stomata Lawn and Garden Care, LLC is fully insured. Documentation is available upon request.

13. How does billing work?

Recurring services are billed monthly. We require a payment method on file prior to beginning service. We accept credit cards, checks, and cash.

Late payments may incur a small weekly fee after reminders.

14. What is your cancellation policy?

No cancellation fee applies when proper advance notice is given:

  • 14 days for residential non-contracted clients is encouraged.

  • 30 days written notice for residential contracted clients

  • 30 days written notice for commercial and community partners

15. Why is there a charge for last-minute cancellations?

If a cancellation occurs after our crew has been dispatched or arrives on-site, the regular service rate will still apply.

Routes are planned in advance, and last-minute cancellations prevent reallocation of scheduled time and travel.

16. What is included in regular lawn maintenance?

Standard service includes mowing, trimming, maintaining established edges, and blowing clippings from hard surfaces.

Overgrown edges requiring restoration must be requested separately.

17. What happens if it rains on my service day?

We monitor weather and soil conditions carefully. Mowing saturated soil can cause compaction and long-term turf damage.

We resume service as soon as conditions allow. Short delays may occur while catching up from weather interruptions.

18. Can I request an extra mow for an event?

Yes. If you need an additional mow between scheduled visits, please contact us at least 24 hours in advance.

19. Do you offer snow removal services?

Snow removal services are scheduled to begin in Winter 2026 for residential and commercial clients.

20. Do you provide community-based lawn services?

Yes. We are committed to community-centered lawn care and partner with local organizations to support accessible services for qualifying individuals.
